The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has said in a report that the Ministry of Tourism started the ‘Swadesh Darshan Yojana’ and implemented various projects despite objections from the then Planning Commission and the Finance Ministry. It “did not act” on the recommendations made by a committee to put together a larger scheme, thereby defeating its objectives.
An official statement said that the ‘Performance Audit Report’ of the CAG regarding the ‘Swadesh Darshan Scheme’ was tabled in the Parliament on Wednesday. In this, the period from the beginning of the scheme in January 2015 to March 2022 was audited. ,
