The West Bengal government is optimistic about forging “collaborations” with several Middle Eastern nations to facilitate the export of meat and meat-related products, a senior official revealed on Friday.

According to Gouri Shankar Koner, Managing Director of the West Bengal Livestock Development Corporation Ltd., a delegation from Bahrain is expected to arrive by the end of September to oversee the production and processing of various meat varieties in the state.

He stated, “We initiated goat meat exports to Qatar during last year’s Football World Cup… In August, we also reached out to Bahrain, and a delegation from that country may visit West Bengal this month, although we are still awaiting confirmation of the exact dates.”
