Three Maldivian ministers, who had made venomous remarks against PM Modi, are suspended. President Muizzu takes significant action in response to their criticism.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lakshadweep visit led to the suspension of all three ministers from the Maldives who had made controversial remarks against PM Modi and Indians. The suspended ministers, Mariyam Shiuna, Malsha, and Hasan Jihan, were already under scrutiny in their own country for opposing the government. The Maldivian government had earlier downplayed their statements as personal opinions. The decision to suspend these ministers was made by President Mohammed Muizzu, who is considered close to China. He is scheduled to embark on a five-day visit to China shortly.
