The credit of being the first Hindi novelist also goes to Pandit Shraddha Ram Phillauri ji. He wrote the first Hindi novel ‘Bhagyavati’ in 1877, which became quite famous and Phillauri ji also became one of the leading writers of Hindi literature. By writing about two dozen works, he enriched both Punjabi and Hindi languages and left his indelible mark in every field.
Pandit Shraddha Ram Phillauri ji, who was rich in versatile talent and earned his name in every field, died in Lahore on June 21, 1881, but due to his famous compositions, especially the Aarti ‘Om Jai Jagdish Hare’, Pandit ji’s name is famous in literature and literature.
