A heart-wrenching incident unfolded on Wednesday as an under-construction railway bridge near the Sairang region of Mizoram collapsed, leading to the tragic loss of at least 17 workers’ lives, according to the police.
The site remains fraught with uncertainty as numerous individuals are feared to be trapped in the wreckage. Reports indicate that approximately 35-40 workers were present at the location when the devastating incident occurred at around 10 am. The site is situated about 21 km from Aizawl.
A police official expressed, “Seventeen bodies have been recovered from the debris so far… many others are still missing.”
