Two-Day ‘India’ Meeting Underway in Mumbai with Participation of 28 parties; Key Resolutions Expected

The two-day gathering of the opposition coalition ‘India,’ aimed at presenting a formidable challenge to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, has commenced in Mumbai today. The meeting agenda encompasses crucial discussions, including the selection of a convener for the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (India) coalition and the potential establishment of a coordination committee

  • Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed the coalition’s unity against communal forces and emphasized the people’s desire for this alliance’s formation. He highlighted that the Prime Ministerial leader would be chosen through a parliamentary process, comparing their integrity favorably to PM Modi’s.
  • Addressing the recent reduction in LPG cylinder prices, Tejashwi Yadav drew a metaphorical analogy, questioning the significance of returning a fraction when a larger sum has been taken, suggesting the move is driven by impending state elections.

Rajya Sabha MP and RJD leader Manoj Jha anticipated that the Mumbai meeting would provide a solid foundation and a roadmap for the alliance, leading the nation back on a constructive path. He advised patience regarding leadership ambitions until the outcome of the collective deliberation.
