Lucknow: Two minor sisters were found murdered at their house in a village in Etawah district on Sunday evening. The girls, aged 5 and 7, were killed with sharp-edged weapons, said police.
The incident came to light when their elder sister returned home and found them lying in a pool of blood with their throats slit, said SSP Etawah, Sanjai Kumar.
Police have detained a few suspects for interrogation, and a team of forensic experts and a dog squad have been requisitioned to help with the investigation.
The girls’ bodies have been sent for postmortem, and police are investigating the case from every possible angle, including whether the girls were sexually assaulted.
“The motive for the murders is still unclear,” said SSP Singh.
