UN Report: Sewer water can provide electricity to 500 million people, emphasis on the need for effective policies

The waste water of drains and sewers, which is considered a big problem for the environment and health, can also be useful. According to the United Nations Environment Program’s new report ‘Wastewater-turning problem to solution’, with the help of effective policies, this contaminated water problem can not only be solved, but it can also provide alternative electricity for 500 million people and 40 million hectares of land. Land can also be irrigated. The size of this irrigated land is equivalent to irrigating almost as many fields as Germany.
