UP police issues alert after clash in Haryana

Lucknow: The UP police has sounded an alert across the state after violence broke out in Haryana. All senior officials have been asked to visit sensitive areas and keep a close eye on the situation in their respective areas.

Special DG, law and order, Prashant Kumar said that vigilance has been intensified and social media teams have been asked to be on toes to keep an eye on any rumour or video going viral.

“All the officers of the district have been told to tap intelligence input and to keep enough reserves in strategic places. Also, all communally sensitive pockets need to be patrolled effectively. There are some religious events around the corner in Mathura and Ayodhya that have to be monitored properly,” said Kumar.

“Continuous checking is going on at the Haryana-UP border and police of both states are coordinating with each other,” he added.

“District police chiefs in sensitive areas have been directed to keep their reserve force and contingent ready to tackle any eventuality, while IG Agra range, Deepak Kumar has been directed to camp in Mathura, as 84-kosi parikrama is ongoing in the district, which also shares its border with Haryana,” said Kumar.

Kumar said that all the district police chiefs and seven police commissioners have been asked to establish contact and communication with people of civil defence and those holding important stature in society.

All the police teams of social media have been asked to remain on toes and keep a hawk-eye on any mischievous rumour, video or photo being circulated on social media.
