UP Rains: 6 killed In Past 24 hours, Schools Shut In Several Districts

The meteorological department has forecasted continuous heavy to moderate rainfall for the next seven days. As a result, schools in Lucknow, Moradabad, and Bay Barabanki have been temporarily closed.

Lucknow: The persistent rain during the retreating monsoon has caused widespread disruption in various parts of Uttar Pradesh.

What was once a region grappling with drought-like conditions is now confronted with the looming threat of floods, as over half of the districts have been affected. Tragically, in the past 24 hours, six individuals have lost their lives due to lightning strikes and collapsing houses. Waterlogging has exacerbated the living conditions in numerous urban areas, while in rural areas, the risk of flooding has become increasingly significant as rivers swell.

Anticipated Heavy to Moderate Rainfall in the Upcoming Days

The weather department has issued forecasts of heavy to moderate rainfall for the next seven days. In Lucknow, the state capital, a staggering 93.9 millimeters of rain was recorded on Monday, resulting in waterlogged residential areas and traffic congestion on roads. Earlier, on Sunday, heavy rainfall was documented in several districts, including Lucknow, Barabanki, Meerut, Moradabad, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, and Ayodhya.
