Lucknow: A 30-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide after killing her two children in the Martinpurva area of Gautampalli on Friday.
She seemed to be upset with her husband Ravi Kumar (32), who works as a waiter at Gymkhana club.
He was apparently saving a major portion of his monthly salary and not using the same for leading a better quality of life.
The police also found a letter in the Maithili language, in which she told her husband that “you now just save money.”
The handwriting will be examined, said DCP, Central Zone, Aparna Rajat Kaushik.
The incident came to light after Ravi returned home around 2am and found the doors locked from the inside.
“He got irritated on not getting any response and then peeped into the rented room from the window to find his wife and her two children hanging from the iron grill with a bedsheet. Appalled, he started crying loudly, prompting neighbours to inform the police,” said SHO, Gautampalli, RK Singh.
The police team broke open the door and brought down all three from the noose and took them to the hospital, where the doctors declared mother Saumya Singh (30), her daughter Anshu (02) and son Virat (03) dead, said the SHO.
The family had been living in the house on rent for the last year.
Ravi said that he had morning breakfast with his wife and children, and then everyone was laughing and happy, it did not seem that his wife would take such a step.
Ravi’s elder brother Chandrashekhar, who lived in the same locality, told police that Ravi and Soumya were married in February 2020 in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Both had settled in Lucknow and were staying here since Ravi got a job in the Gymkhana Club.
The locals residing near Ravi’s house told journalists that when the police were taking out the bodies of his wife and two children, Ravi climbed the fourth floor and was going to jump but was saved by the cops.
