US Official Encourages India to Collaborate with Canada in Khalistani Separatist’s Death Probe

A US State Department official has stated that the Biden Administration has been in communication with the Indian government on multiple occasions, urging them to cooperate with Canada in its investigation into the death of a Khalistani separatist.

The bilateral relationship between India and Canada has faced significant tension after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made allegations of potential involvement by Indian agents in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia in June.

India has vehemently denied these allegations, considering them “absurd” and “motivated.” In response, India expelled a senior Canadian diplomat, mirroring Ottawa’s expulsion of an Indian official in connection with the case.
