Varanasi: Hundreds of Electric Bus Operators Stage Protest, Alleging Non-Payment of Salaries for Six Months

In Varanasi, around 130 operators were hired by a private company for electric buses. Operating in different shifts, they now protest due to non-payment of salaries for six months. On Friday, the bus drivers staged a strike at the electric bus charging station in Varanasi, attributing the protest to the unpaid salaries. The protesting drivers, in significant numbers, gathered at the charging bus stand demanding immediate payment. The operators claim they haven’t received their salaries for six months. The situation worsened as the buses remained parked, causing inconvenience to commuters.

The protest led by the bus operators has impacted the electric bus charging station operations in Varanasi. The drivers are demanding prompt payment for their services. It’s noteworthy that a private company hired approximately 130 drivers for operating electric buses in Varanasi, working in shifts. Due to the lack of payment, the operators expressed their frustration through the protest.

The bus management refrained from allowing buses to leave the depot. The disruption in bus services caused significant inconvenience to the public. After hours of negotiation, Gaurav Varma, the regional manager of transportation, assured resolution, leading to the end of the strike.
