This marks the first electoral contest in the state after the establishment of the opposition INDIA bloc. The voting process is taking place across 455 polling stations and will conclude at 6 pm, according to the office of the state’s chief electoral officer.
The Ghosi bypoll was triggered by the resignation of Dara Singh Chauhan, who had secured victory in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections as a member of the Samajwadi Party (SP), in July.
