New Delhi. It is raining heavily in some parts of India, while in some places there is a lack of rain despite the monsoon being active for a long time. Meanwhile, while giving information, the IMD said that another active phase of the southwest monsoon may begin this week. Due to this, the Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for many states, warning of predicted ‘heavy’ rains in flood-hit Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and other states. While the heavy monsoon caused floods and landslides in some states, other parts of India witnessed a rain deficit in the past fortnight.
Heavy rain will occur in these districts of Odisha for 24 hours
According to the report of Hindustan Times, Director General of the Meteorological Office M Mohapatra said, there is a possibility of good rains in the areas where there is a lack of rain and the process of rain is going to continue in North India as well. Rain warnings have been issued for many states this week. Heavy rain has been predicted for the next five days in North Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand. The Meteorological Department said that there will be heavy rains in various districts of Odisha for 24 hours today. These include Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonpur, Deogarh, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi and Bargarh districts.
Once again rain can bring devastation in Himachal Pradesh
Apart from this, very heavy rains are expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpu, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nuapada districts of Odisha on Tuesday. On the other hand, monsoon devastation may come once again in Himachal Pradesh. IMD said that heavy rain is expected at different places in Himachal Pradesh in the next five days.
Heavy rain likely in Bihar-West Bengal and Sikkim today
Similar weather will prevail in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan for the next three days. Heavy rain is likely over Haryana-Chandigarh during the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, Delhi, which is facing flood-like situation in some parts, is likely to witness generally cloudy sky with light rain and thundershowers today. Heavy rains will continue at different places in Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim even today.
Heavy rain warning in these states till July 21
For central India, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha over Chhattisgarh today, July 17 and 18. The IMD also said that isolated ‘heavy to very heavy’ rainfall is likely over Konkan and Goa from July 18 to 21. Meanwhile, Gujarat and Madhya Maharashtra will also receive heavy rains at isolated places till July 21. Heavy rains will continue even today in Assam which is facing severe floods.
