With summer, Kerala’s forests are facing the risk of massive fires again. At times prescribed or controlled burning goes out of hand. Despite its best efforts, the Forest department struggles to control the fire’s fury on time. The result is serious environmental damage. Not just in terms of the flora and fauna lost, but also through depleting soil health and proliferating invasive weeds.
