The World Health Organization has said that many countries have made significant progress towards increasing breastfeeding rates, but that even more progress can be made if breastfeeding is encouraged and supported in the workplace. Every year the first week of August is observed as World Breastfeeding Week. The week-long event aims to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding for child development.
