Preparations for Deepotsav-2026 in Ayodhya have reached their final stage. During the grand celebrations scheduled for November 7, a total of 2,147 priests will perform the collective Maha Aarti on the banks of the Saryu. The grand aarti, stretching from Laxman Qila Ghat to Naya Ghat and Ram Ki Paidi, will be held in the evening from approximately 5:20 pm to 5:50 pm. To make the tenth edition of Deepotsav a grand celebration, 56 ghats along the Saryu River are being specially prepared. The beautifully decorated ghats and the collective Maha Aarti will present a spectacular spectacle of faith and spirituality in the holy city of Lord Ram.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “Deepotsav, which began in 2017 under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with the lighting of 1.71 lakh diyas, is now entering its tenth edition. Rooted in public participation and cultural traditions, the event has continued to scale new heights every year. Last year, Ayodhya set a new world record by illuminating more than 2.6 million diyas. This year, on November 7, the holy city will be illuminated with approximately 3 million diyas. The collective Saryu Aarti, international Ramlila performances and an aerial presentation of episodes from the Ramayana using 2,100 drones will be among the major highlights of the celebrations.”
Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “The collective Maha Aarti on the banks of the Saryu will be one of the major attractions of Deepotsav. Amid Vedic chants and religious rituals, the ghats illuminated by thousands of diyas will showcase the magnificent religious and cultural traditions of Ayodhya.”
He added, “The number of priests participating in the Maha Aarti has increased every year. While 1,121 priests performed the aarti in 2024 and 2,128 in 2025, this year 2,147 priests will perform the grand Saryu Aarti together.”
The minister further stated that during the ninth edition of Deepotsav in 2025, 2,128 priests and Vedic scholars performed the collective Saryu Maha Aarti, earning a place in the Guinness World Records.
Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Tourism, Culture and Religious Affairs, Amrit Abhijat, said, “Deepotsav has become a symbol of Ayodhya’s rich cultural heritage, religious faith and public participation. The annual expansion of this event is taking the state’s cultural identity to new heights on the global stage. This year too, the grand illumination with diyas, collective Saryu Aarti and integration of modern technology will make Deepotsav a memorable occasion. Our endeavour is to ensure that devotees visiting Ayodhya return with a unique experience of its spiritual traditions and cultural splendour.”
