54-year-old cyclist dies as car rams him on Noida flyover

 

The car driver fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind.

According to the police, they were informed about the accident by a passer-by following which a team from Sector 39 police station rushed to the spot.

“An i20 was found upside down on the road. A damaged bicycle was also found along with the injured rider. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The man was identified as Sunil Kumar,” a police officer said.

Family members of the deceased were informed around 8.30 am and the body was sent for postmortem.

Kumar, who lived with his family in Faridabad Sector 91 in Haryana, worked as a security guard at the Microsoft office building in Sector 16A.

“Kumar was returning after finishing his night shift when he was hit by the car around 5.30 am. An FIR has been lodged under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC against the driver,” the officer said.

An investigation is underway to trace the accused.

“I got a call from the police station and they asked me to head to the hospital. When I reached the hospital, I got to know about my father’s death. He had severe head injuries,” Kumar’s son said.
