The GST Council on Wednesday decided to levy 28 per cent tax on initial amount of bets in online gaming and casinos from October 1, despite disagreements from Delhi, Goa and Sikkim.
For this taxation, the Central Government will come up with a proposal to amend the Central GST Act in the current monsoon session of the Parliament itself. After that, by approving a proposal to this effect in the State Assemblies, the way will be prepared for its implementation from October 1.
