According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Meta is preparing to launch a web version of its app Threads, a rival to Twitter/X, in the coming week.
Social media behemoth Meta is gearing up to unveil the web-based edition of its app Threads, aimed at competing with Twitter/X. The report from the Wall Street Journal highlighted Meta’s plan to debut the web version of Threads at the start of the upcoming week, although these intentions are tentative and subject to change. While a few Threads posts have been accessible on the web, the availability has been restricted due to Threads being primarily tailored for mobile phone users.
Threads was launched on July 5 to counteract the social media platform X and to attract users dissatisfied with the alterations initiated by its owner, Elon Musk. The app experienced a positive reception, swiftly amassing over 100 million monthly active users within a week. However, data from SimilarWeb as of August 7 indicated a decline in active Threads users to around the 10 million mark, demonstrating a waning trend.
