The threat of new variants of the coronavirus is rapidly increasing on a global level. Recently, two new variants, Eris and BA.2.68, have raised alerts among scientists. These variants are being observed with a significantly higher rate of infectivity, posing a risk even to individuals who have been vaccinated or have developed immunity from previous infections. The presence of additional mutations in these new variants is believed to potentially evade immunity more easily.
