
Lucknow: Two friends drowned in Chiluatal while one was rescued in Chiluatal area of Gorakhpur on Tuesday. They had had gone for bathing under the Mahesara Railway Bridge near Bamant Mata Temple when the incident occurred.
On being informed, the police reached the spot and, with the help of the SDRF team and local divers, managed to recover the bodies of both victims from the water.
According to reports, Amir (22), Sahil alias Kaif (16), and Rehan (22), all three relatives and friends and residents of Zahidabad in Kuntinagar of Gorakhnath area, had gone for bathing in Chiluatal on Tuesday morning. As they went into deep water, one of them started drowning. The other two tried to rescue him but they also started drowning. Hearing their cries for help, some passersby rushed to their aid and managed to save Amir. However, Sahil and Rehan couldn’t be saved due to strong current of the river.
The families of both the deceased were informed. Sahil as a class X student at St Joseph’s School, and his father is a private doctor while Rehan was preparing for competitions in Delhi after completing his his intermediate. Amir is pursuing engineering from a private college in Gida.
Inspector Chiluatal, Rakesh Kumar Mishra, said that bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
