G20 Nations Pledge to Promote Unrestricted Trade in Agriculture, Food, and Fertilizers

In an effort to address the challenges posed by rising commodity prices and their impact on the cost of living, G20 leaders announced their commitment to facilitating trade in agriculture, food, and fertilizers that is “open, equitable, predictable, and adheres to established rules.” They also vowed not to impose export restrictions, aligning with the relevant rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Through the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration of G20 nations, the member countries further pledged their support for the initiatives and capabilities of developing nations in addressing their food security concerns. They expressed their collective determination to collaborate in ensuring access to affordable, safe, nutritious, and healthy diets while actively promoting the progressive realization of the right to adequate food.
