Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka in the 30th match of ODI World Cup 2023. Batting first at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, Sri Lanka scored 241 runs losing all the wickets in 49.3 overs and in reply Afghanistan achieved the target by losing three wickets in 45.2 overs. This is Afghanistan’s third win in six matches in this World Cup. After England and Pakistan, Afghanistan has also defeated Sri Lanka and is claiming to play the semi-finals. At the same time, with the defeat, the way forward has become difficult for Sri Lanka. Afghanistan team has come to fifth position in the points table with six points.
