The defense department (civil) employees have shown strong support for the reinstatement of the ‘old pension.’ As the government does not reinstate the ‘old pension,’ around four lakh employees of the defense department may go on an indefinite strike. C. Shreekumar, a senior member of the Operational Steering Committee of the National Joint Council of Action (NJCA) constituted for the One Rank One Pension (OROP) and the Secretary-General of AIDEF, stated that a strike ballot was conducted on November 20 and 21 to know the opinion of railway and defense workers about the indefinite strike. Approximately 99.9% of the employees have voted in favor of the nationwide indefinite strike.
