Lucknow: Two teenagers — both around 17 years old — were arrested and sent to a juvenile home after they raped a 12-year-old girl and filmed the crime on their mobile and later uploaded it on the Internet, police in Hathras said on Saturday.
Sikandra Rao SHO, Ashish Kumar, said, “The girl’s family registered an FIR after they found a video clip of the crime which took place at Purdilnagar in Hathras district on December 5. A case under IPC section 376-DB (gangrape of a woman under 12 years of age), IT and Pocso acts were registered against the two accused. Investigations are going on and action will be taken accordingly.”
Police said that both the accused and the survivor belong to the same locality. One of the accused is a student of class 11, while the other was working in Noida. The teenagers were arrested from Noida and Aligarh on Friday and produced before the magistrate, police said, adding that the girl was sent for medical tests.
On December 5, the two accused lured the girl to their house and sexually assaulted her, a local said. He added: “The girl’s family was shocked after they came to know of the video on social media. She then narrated her ordeal to them. Though the crime took place earlier this month, she remained quiet as she was afraid the accused, who were roaming free, could harm her again.”
