Lucknow: Upset over harassment and humiliation by a sub-inspector, a 35-year-old schoolteacher hanged himself from a tree in Atararmaaf village of Mahoba district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
Before ending his life, Rajendra Pratap Singh sent a message to his family members, accusing sub-inspector Devendra Pandey and a liquor vendor, Karan Rajput, of framing him in a fake robbery case.
After the family created a ruckus, Mahoba SP Aparna Gupta removed Pandey as the local police outpost in-charge and ordered a probe.
Elder brother of the deceased, Brajendra Pratap Singh, in his complaint said Rajendra had a verbal fight with Rajput when the latter insulted him in public on Wednesday over some issue.
“Karan went and filed a false complaint with the local outpost in-charge, accusing my brother of assault and robbery. SI Pandey came to my brother’s house on Wednesday, and humiliated and threatened him in front of his family,” said Brajendra.
Senior police officers said the body had been sent for postmortem and cops are trying to find the exact sequence of events.
