The dates for the Lok Sabha elections have been announced and the Model Code of Conduct has been enforced. During the Model Code of Conduct, any form of campaigning by any party in front of the public is prohibited. The Supreme Court has agreed to list for hearing on Thursday a public interest litigation against the practice of political parties promising freebies during elections.
