
Gurugram, March 11 (IANS) The Gurugram police have arrested an accused for allegedly trying to kill a woman after she refused a marriage proposal here, police said.
The accused was identified as Mintu Kumar, a resident of Gaya in Bihar.
According to the police, on March 3, a police team from Sector-7 IMT Manesar received information through the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) team that a woman was lying injured in the hill of Kasan village.
The ERV team immediately admitted the victim to a hospital for treatment.
The investigation team of the said police station reached the hospital; they found that the injured woman was not fit to give a statement.
The police team got the crime scene inspected by the scene-of-crime, fingerprint, and dog squad teams.
On March 4, the victim told the police team through a written complaint that she lives in a rented house in the Bhangarola village and works in a company in Sector-8, IMT Manesar.
She had become friends with a person named Mintu.
On March 2, she went to visit a temple in Kasan village with her friend and Mintu.
Later, she and Mintu left her friend in the temple and went for a walk in the hills of Kasan village. There, Mintu told her that he wanted to marry her, but she refused to marry him.
“Mintu got angry and threw her down and started kicking and punching her and hit her on the head and face with a stone, and thinking her to be dead, he ran away from the spot. She remained lying on the hill the whole night. On March 3 she was admitted to the hospital by the police team. Mintu had injured her with the intention of killing her,” Sandeep Kumar, Gurugram police spokesperson, said.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim, a case was registered under the relevant sections in Sector-7 IMT Manesar police station, Gurugram.
During the probe, the police team of the Manesar crime branch of the Gurugram police nabbed the accused from Aurangabad (Bihar) on Monday.
During police questioning, it was found that the accused had injured the girl when she refused to marry him and fled from there thinking her to be dead, police said.
