Mumbai, Aug 9 (IANS) Mini Mathur, who has emerged as the winner of the primary season of the reality show, ‘Alliance,’ talked about the thin line between strategy and dirty gameplay in reality shows.
During her exclusive interaction with IANS, Mini shared that smart moves to stay ahead in the game are fine, but spreading negativity by doing personal attacks is something that is not appreciated.
She was asked, “In reality shows, there is often a debate about the difference between smart gameplay and dirty gameplay. According to you, where should that line be drawn?”
Mini told IANS, “A certain amount of manipulation is part of strategy. If you want someone to underplay their game because it benefits your own strategy or improves your position on the tracker board, that is perfectly acceptable. It is part of the game. However, personal attacks, insulting someone’s gender, or shouting simply to create toxicity are things I do not believe in.”
She added that there is a fine line between playing strategically to survive and trying to pull someone down just to move ahead.
“Personally, I do not think the second approach is necessary,” Mini said.
Mini also hoped that her winning the show gives out a message that one does not need to play dirty to win a reality show, contrary to the common notion.
“Hopefully, my victory sends a message to other reality shows that you do not have to be down and dirty to win. You can be straightforward, sharp, strategic, and even manipulative within the rules of the game. You can also be a woman over fifty and still defeat contestants who are half your age,” she concluded.
Premiered on Prime Video on June 26 this year, ‘Alliance’ saw Ravi Kishan and Riva Kishan, Kushal Tandon and Arslan Goni, Daisy Shah and Zaid Darbar, Mini Mathur and Nikhil Chinapa, Niti Taylor and Ruhee Dosani, Vanshaj Singh and Dolly Javed, Payal Dhare (Payal Gaming) and Sabby Suri, and Delbar Arya and Armaan Khera as contestants.
