Yogi government giving new wings to the education and self-reliance of children with disabilities

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, UP government is making continuous efforts to provide quality education, better training and opportunities for self-reliance to children with disabilities. As part of these efforts, special schools are being operated across the state for persons with disabilities, with arrangements for education and training made according to children’s needs. Currently, 1,464 students are studying in 21 special schools across the state.

Keeping in mind the diverse needs of children with disabilities, state government operates special schools under four categories. These include the Government School ‘Prayas’ for boys with physical disabilities, Government School for the Deaf and Mute ‘Sanket’, Government School ‘Mamta’ for boys and girls with intellectual disabilities, and Government School for the Visually Impaired ‘Sparsh’. These schools provide education and training to children according to their abilities and needs.

The department has also taken important steps to make the teaching system in special schools modern and high-quality. Of the department’s 21 special schools, 16 have received ISO certification for their high standards of teaching and training and improved campus management systems. Some of these schools provide education up to the upper primary level, while others offer education up to the secondary level. Smart classrooms have also been arranged to provide students with education through modern technology.

Through these initiatives of the Yogi government, children with disabilities are getting opportunities to join the mainstream of education, hone their talents, and enhance their self-confidence. Modern educational facilities, systematic management and needs-based training in special schools are helping create a better educational environment for students with disabilities.

Rajesh Kumar Singh, Director of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, stated, “State government is committed to providing better education, training and opportunities for self-reliance to children with disabilities. A total of 1,464 students are receiving education in the 21 special schools operating across the state. Special teaching arrangements have been made through Prayas, Sanket, Mamta, and Sparsh schools, based on the children’s disabilities and needs. Smart classrooms are also helping connect children with modern technology.”
