Bangladeshi citizen Sonia Akhtar has taken a significant step in her quest for justice,

engaging the legal services of Seema Haider’s lawyer to address her grievances against her Indian husband, Sourabh Kant Tiwari. This development unfolded during the G20 Summit in 2023 held in New Delhi, where Sonia Akhtar made a compelling plea to Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The intricate story of Sonia Akhtar’s abandoned marriage to Indian national Sourabh Kant Tiwari has garnered attention due to its complexity. Reportedly, Sonia and Sourabh Tiwari entered into matrimony in Dhaka three years ago during Tiwari’s employment in Bangladesh from 2017 to 2021. It is alleged that Tiwari converted to Islam to formalize their union.

However, their marital journey took a troubling turn when Tiwari abruptly departed Bangladesh, disavowing Sonia as his spouse. An investigation initiated by the Uttar Pradesh police revealed that Tiwari was already married and had two children.

Presently, Sonia Akhtar resides in Noida with her one-year-old son. She reached out to Prime Minister Hasina through the Bangladesh High Commission, seeking assistance in her predicament.

In her pursuit of justice, Sonia Akhtar has enlisted the legal representation of AP Singh, the lawyer who is concurrently handling the case of Pakistani national Seema Haider. Haider entered India via Nepal earlier in the year to marry Sachin Meena, whom she met through the online game PUBG.

Sonia Akhtar’s ultimate desire is reconciliation with her husband Tiwari and the prospect of spending the rest of her life with him. Despite their previous marriage, Tiwari has distanced himself from Sonia, leaving her in a state of uncertainty. Sonia Akhtar expressed her heartfelt sentiments, emphasizing her wish to remain with her husband and their child, stating, “He is not agreeing now, he is not taking me with him to his home. I am a Bangladeshi. We got married almost three years ago. I only want to stay with my husband along with our child,” as she shared with reporters last month.
