Before the Lok Sabha elections, the Mamata government has declared Ram Navami holiday in Bengal for the first time. In Bengal, Durga Puja and Saraswati Puja are celebrated as major festivals. Even festivals like Chhath and many others have public holidays, but there was no holiday for Ram Navami in Bengal before.
