SC Appointments: Two more judges have been appointed in the Supreme Court on Wednesday (July 12). The collegium had sent a recommendation to the Center regarding the promotion of Justice Ujjwal Bhuinya and Justice S Venkatanarayan Bhatti. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has announced the appointment of both the judges by posting on Twitter.
On July 5, the Collegium sent a recommendation to the Center for the names of Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan and Justice Bhatti. Earlier, Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Senior Advocate Venkataraman Vishwanathan were also appointed in the Supreme Court.
Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan
Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan is currently the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. He was first appointed as a judge in the Gauhati High Court. Since October 17, 2011, he has been a judge in the Gauhati High Court. He was the senior-most judge here and from June 28, 2022, he is holding the post of Chief Justice in the Telangana High Court.
Justice S. Venkatanarayan Bhatti
Justice S. Venkatanarayan Bhatti is currently working as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. He was appointed to the Andhra Pradesh High Court on 12 April 2013. After this, he was shifted to the Kerala High Court in March 2019 and he is working here as the Chief Justice from June 1, 2023.
Justice Vishwanathan
Justice KV Vishwanathan will become the Chief Justice of India after the retirement of Justice JB Pardiwala on August 11, 2030. He will remain on this post till May 25, 2031. Vishwanathan’s journey to reach here was very difficult. He has worked with many senior advocates. He also stayed with senior advocate CS Vaidyanath. Vaidyanath appeared for Lord Ramlala in the Ayodhya case. Vishwanathan was Vaidyanath’s junior from 1988 to 90 and also appeared in the lower court, the High Court and the Supreme Court. After this, from 1990 to 1995, he was also junior to Senior Advocate KC Venugopal.
Justice Prashant Mishra
Justice Prashant Mishra has been appointed to the Supreme Court. He was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on October 13, 2021. Prior to this, he was the working Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
