Delhi is in a deep constitutional crisis as the Lieutenant Governor has refused to approve the appointment of a key official in a major event.

LG has written a note to the Chief Secretary stating that according to the National Capital Territory Act, decisions related to elections involving local and autonomous bodies can only be taken on the advice of the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary. In this context, appointments of principal officers in the Delhi Municipal Corporation should be forwarded to him through the Chief Minister under Section 77 of the MCD Act.
