Dugdh Swarn Mahotsav 2026 Concludes: 10,000 Participants, ₹84 Crore Disbursed, 796 MoUs Worth ₹25,000 Crore Signed

News Street Live, Lucknow: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is setting new benchmarks in the field of milk production. The Uttar Pradesh Dairy Development Department celebrated its 50 years of establishment with great enthusiasm as ‘Dugdh Swarn Mahotsav 2026’. The closing ceremony of the two-day event held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow was organised on the second day.

At the beginning of the programme, a congratulatory message sent by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on completion of 50 years of the department was read out, in which he described dairy development as the backbone of the rural economy.

Around 10,000 livestock farmers, dairy producers, and investors from across the state participated in the festival, while lakhs of others joined through webcasting.

On the concluding day, experts held detailed discussions on ‘rearing of indigenous cattle breeds’ and ‘latest dairy technology’ to ensure that Uttar Pradesh continues to remain a leading state in milk production.

During the programme, Additional Chief Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meshram shared detailed insights on the role of indigenous cattle rearing in strengthening the rural economy in the current scenario.

Dairy Commissioner Dhanalakshmi K. also informed participants about the state’s commitment and government efforts to maintain Uttar Pradesh’s leading position in milk production.

The dairy sector holds a significant place in the rural economy of the state, contributing ₹1.72 lakh crore to the state’s gross value addition. Under the Nand Baba Milk Mission, more than 10,000 beneficiaries have so far received ₹84 crore directly through DBT.

The department has executed 796 MoUs worth over ₹25,000 crore, which are expected to generate around 60,000 employment opportunities. Additionally, under Ground Breaking Ceremony 5.0, 72 projects worth ₹2,000 crore have already commenced.

During the programme, 59 new MoUs worth more than ₹3,000 crore were signed, including major companies such as Ananda Dairy, Gyan Dairy, and Param Dairy, which are expected to create 13,000 new jobs.

More than 4,000 new primary dairy cooperative societies have been formed in the state, benefiting around 1.50 lakh dairy producers directly or indirectly.

Officers and employees, both serving and retired, who made exceptional contributions to the department were honoured. Successful dairy producers also shared their success stories during the event.
