G20 International Media Centre to Showcase Mini-India: I&B Minister Anurag Thakur

A miniature version of India will spring to life within the expansive confines of the Bharat Mandapam complex, which is set to host the forthcoming G20 Leaders’ Summit.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur conducted a thorough review of the preparations underway at the media site, destined to become the nerve center for disseminating the G20 meetings’ proceedings to a global audience.

This media center will cater to both domestic and international media representatives who will converge in the national capital for comprehensive G20 Summit coverage.

Minister Thakur emphasized, “The facilities provided here for both domestic and international media are extensive, encompassing broadband connectivity, media lounges, and kiosks, among others.”

With a capacity to accommodate more than 3,000 media delegates, the media center also includes features like compact media booths for one-on-one interviews, media briefing rooms of varying sizes (50, 100, and 300 people), and live stand-up positions, with the Bharat Mandapam as a captivating backdrop, for journalists.

He further disclosed that the entire proceedings of the G20 Summit will be recorded using ultra high definition (UHD) and 4K broadcast technologies, a first for the country.

Thakur, while touring the sprawling facility, remarked, “What you see behind me is the powerful image of the new India.”

As part of the setup, a series of exhibitions highlighting India’s advancements in the digital economy, diverse culture, handicrafts, and artifacts, courtesy of the ‘One District, One Product’ initiative, as well as the evolution of democracy in the country, including the first-ever parliament in history known as Anubhav Mandapam, have been arranged.

Thakur concluded, “A miniature version of India has come to life within the Bharat Mandapam complex. This is an opportunity for our guests to explore the temples of Tamil Nadu, the culture of Rajasthan, and the mountains of Himachal Pradesh. Each state contributes something unique, showcasing its distinctive culture.”

Moreover, a green wall has been erected, allowing individuals to capture photographs with backdrops from different parts of the country.
