JD(S) will contest Lok Sabha polls independently: Deve Gowda

Ruling out the possibility of an electoral alliance with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) supremo HD Deve Gowda on Tuesday said that his party will contest the Lok Sabha polls independently.

Deve Gowda’s son and former Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had last week said that his party would work together with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against the Congress government in the state on various issues. With this, speculations were rife about joining hands of BJP and JD(S) in the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year.
