Lucknow: Two sisters were attacked inside the staff quarters of KD Singh Babu stadium for resisting harassment on Monday. A resident of the quarters who came to save the women was also injured in the attack. The women are recuperating in a hospital. The sisters, who live in house number 15, suffered injuries in their head and limbs.
The sisters somehow managed to call the regional sports officer (RSO), Ajay Kumar Sethi for help.
When Sethi sent staff member Satish Yadav, the attackers named Mahesh Singh and his son Ravi Singh thrashed him with sticks.
They also damaged the sisters’ two-wheelers and threatened them of dire consequences if they reported the matter to police.
The RSO called the police. The cops asked the women to lodge a complaint.
In the complaint, one of the sisters said she was at home and her neighbours Mahesh and his son Ravi started abusing her and harassing her.
“They stormed into my house breaking the doors and attacked me with a sharp-edged weapon. My sister came to my rescue but she was also attacked. I somehow managed to call the RSO who oversees the houses allotted to us and he sent staff member Satish for help, but they thrashed him also,” she said.
After the FIR, the RSO sent a letter to the Lucknow police commissioner requesting deployment of police force (man and woman) inside the stadium premises for security.
The RSO further urged that the case of brawl be investigated properly and deterrent action be taken against the culprits.
Assistant commissioner of police, Hazratganj, Arvind Verma said that an FIR under relevant charges had been lodged and a probe was being conducted.
