MNNIT associate prof invents special method for erecting transmission towers, gets Patent too

Scientists at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) have been granted a patent for a method of constructing transmission line towers that promises to reduce the number of incidents caused by natural disasters. Developed by a team of engineers led by associate professor JC Mohanta, the method involves the installation of a ‘stub setting mechanism’ for testing transmission towers. The technique makes the towers more robust against wind, earthquakes and other mechanical loading.
