Speaking about the Gaganyaan programme, Somnath said the first TV-D1 test flight is scheduled for October 21. Elaborating on the upcoming missions to be undertaken by the Bengaluru-headquartered space agency, he said, “We have exploration missions. We have plans to go to Mars, Venus and then someday to the Moon. We have missions to observe climate and weather. There are programs for that too.”
At the same time, S Somnath says that NASA scientists have asked for Chandrayaan-3 technology from India. He said that when we developed Chandrayaan-3, we called NASA scientists to ISRO headquarters. We explained to them how Chandrayaan-3 will make a soft landing on the lunar surface on August 23. We also explained our design to them.
On the landing of Chandrayaan-3, he said that Vikram has done his job very well. It was programmed to perform its functions during the lunar day (equivalent to 14 Earth days). He said, “He is sleeping happily on the Moon. It has done its job very well. Let us tell you that after the onset of night on the Moon, Rover Pragyan and Lander Vikram were put into sleep mode in September. ISRO Said, “No signal has been received from them. Efforts to establish contact will continue.” After the historic landing on August 23, lander Vikram and rover Pragyan performed various tasks on the lunar surface, including detecting the presence of sulfur and recording relative temperatures.
