Since Shivraj Singh Chouhan wasn’t made the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh after the last state elections, speculations arose that the party might take him into central politics. Being nominated as a candidate from the Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency further fueled this speculation. Prime Minister Modi himself hinted that Chouhan could be given a significant role in national politics.
