Daya Shankar Singh, the Transport Minister of Uttar Pradesh,has officially declared the state’s commitment to ensuring government buses reach every village by the end of this year, aligning with Chief Minister Yogi’s vision. The objective is to extend government bus services to all villages in the state by December.
Uttar Pradesh currently comprises 1,00,983 villages, encompassing a total of 59,163 village panchayats. Among these, only 4,593 village panchayats currently lack access to government bus services.
To identify the villages in need of bus services, Venketeshwar Lu, the Principal Secretary of Transport in Uttar Pradesh, has announced the forthcoming implementation of a survey. This survey will also assess the suitability of motor vehicle routes to these underserved villages. The transport department will establish two teams in each district to conduct assessments, with the survey report expected to be completed within a week.
Transport Minister Daya Shankar stressed that during the survey, officials should take note of villages lacking government bus services within a two-kilometer radius, categorizing them as underserved areas. Separate bus services will be initiated to cater to these villages, and a comprehensive survey will help gauge the passenger demand for each village.
It is worth highlighting that the Yogi Government has already achieved the connectivity of every district to the state capital through government buses. Furthermore, special services have been introduced to link major cities in Uttar Pradesh with the national capital, Delhi. The expansion of bus services to villages throughout the state signifies another significant stride in enhancing public transportation and connectivity for the residents of Uttar Pradesh.
