Three children killed, five injured as truck rams e-rickshaw in MP’s Chhatarpur


Bhopal, May 24 (IANS) Three children of a family were killed in a road accident after a speeding truck collided with an e-rickshaw near the Matguwa petrol pump on Bijawar Road in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district on Sunday.

The tragic incident claimed the lives of the three children on the spot and left five others seriously injured, plunging the bereaved family into deep grief.

The deceased were identified as Suman Adivasi (16), Somvati Adivasi (8), and Bhura Adivasi (5), all members of the same family from Hatnai village under the Ishanagar police station area, police officials said.

The children were returning home along with other family members from the Satai area in an e-rickshaw when the accident occurred.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the e-rickshaw was completely mangled, triggering panic and chaos at the accident site.

Karanju Adivasi, a resident of Hatnai village, was travelling with his family members at the time of the mishap.

The injured persons were identified as Karanju Adivasi (41), Kanhaiya Adivasi (14), Genda Adivasi (38), and Kishan Adivasi, who is a taxi driver and the brother-in-law of the deceased children, police said.

All the injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital. After receiving information about the accident, police officials reached the spot and immediately shifted the injured persons to hospital.

According to officials, the area witnessed scenes of chaos for some time following the accident.

Police have registered a case against the truck driver, who fled the spot soon after the collision. A search operation has been launched to trace and apprehend the absconding driver.

Authorities have assured strict action in the matter. The bereaved family is receiving support from the local administration and community members during this difficult time.

Police said an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the fatal collision.
