West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has announced that she will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections alone. Mamata said on Wednesday that Congress rejected my proposal for seat-sharing in West Bengal. We will contest elections alone in Bengal.
In reality, Congress is demanding 10 to 12 seats in Bengal for the Lok Sabha elections, while TMC is only willing to give two seats. These are the seats that Congress won in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Apart from Congress, there are also Left parties in Bengal, which are part of the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A with 28 parties.
