Yogi Government’s Mission Shakti empowers women, beat police reach over 99,000 villages

Mission Shakti campaign, implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to strengthen women’s safety, dignity, and self-reliance in the state, has delivered effective results. While the Mission Shakti campaign has made women self-reliant, it has also empowered them by providing a safe environment.

During the second phase of Phase-5 of the Mission Shakti campaign, conducted from March 19 to April 17, 2026, officials inspected approximately 3 lakh schools, colleges, and public places across the state. In addition, officials made women and girls aware of their rights, government welfare schemes, and helpline services, while further strengthening security arrangements.

ADG Padmaja Chauhan, Nodal Officer of the Women and Child Safety Organization, said Yogi government considers women’s safety an important component of law and order in the state and is simultaneously focusing on awareness, dialogue, and strict action. In this direction, second phase of Phase-5 of Mission Shakti campaign was conducted across the state.

During this period, police, administration and concerned departments jointly organized various programs. In addition to providing women and girls with safety-related information, the campaign placed special emphasis on monitoring suspicious activities, preventing crimes, and assisting victims.

Under the campaign, 66,441 women and girls participated in district-level runs to promote women’s safety. These programs distributed 49,437 publicity materials. These events also drew 1,930 public representatives, officials, and inspirational women. Meanwhile, women’s chaupals organized at religious places, fairs, and other public locations provided information about government welfare schemes and helpline services to 15,55,219 people. These efforts aim to raise women’s safety awareness and encourage them to use the available support system when needed.

During the campaign, 12,51,777 women participated in awareness programs organized at 1,593 Mission Shakti centers. During this period, 10,05,926 pamphlets related to government welfare schemes and helplines were distributed. In addition, beat police officers organized 45,040 programs across various gram panchayats and wards. Anganwadi workers, BC Sakhis, lekhpals, ANMs, ASHA workers, gram panchayat officers, employment assistants and other local representatives supported these programs. During these events, they provided information about government schemes to the public, including 72,820 people.

To directly listen to women’s problems and provide them with assistance, women beat police officers conducted extensive visits. During the campaign, women beat officers visited 99,377 villages and wards. Special emphasis was placed on identifying women and girls affected by domestic violence and connecting them with the necessary assistance. The campaign also provided legal assistance to victims in cases involving domestic disputes, maintenance, and other issues, and coordinated with concerned departments as required.

To ensure the safety of women and girls, the campaign also intensified police surveillance and checks at public places. Police inspected 2,90,153 schools, colleges, intersections, markets, malls, parks, and other crowded places. During the operation, officials checked 38,64,614 individuals. Meanwhile, police registered 1,841 cases, arrested 6,276 accused, and issued warnings to 16,85,263 individuals.

During the campaign, police patrolling and foot patrolling were conducted at 59,897 locations. In addition, police installed 39,454 cameras at sensitive locations and hotspot areas associated with crimes against women. Government Railway Police also distributed 1,69,201 publicity materials related to the Mission Shakti campaign at 4,893 railway stations and across 11,226 trains.
