Ambulance Ferrying Them Hit By Unidentified Vehicle
Lucknow: In a tragic accident, an elderly woman and her three daughters died when the ambulance in which they were bringing home the mortal remains of the head of the family was hit by an unidentified vehicle early Friday morning.
Another daughter of the woman was critically injured in the accident which took place at Purva-Mohanlalganj road near Tusraur village.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the incident and ordered the administration to make all necessary arrangements for the treatment of the injured person.
The impact of the accident was such that the ambulance was blown to pieces. Surprisingly, the ambulance driver went missing after the accident and was untraceable till the last reports came in.
The deceased were identified as Prema Savita (70), wife of Dhaniram, Manjula (45), Anjali (40) and Ruby (30).
The condition of Sudha (36), the other daughter of Prema, is stated to be critical.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
Dhaniram Savita (75), a native of Maurawan area, had retired as a class IV employee from KNPN Inter College Maurawan in 2007.
About a week ago, he had suffered a paralysis attack and was having difficulty breathing. The family members had taken him to the district hospital on July 24.
Doctors, however, referred him to Kanpur’s Lala Lajpat Rai hospital where he died on Friday.
The family members were heading home with his mortal remains in a private ambulance.
As soon as it reached near Tusraur village on the Purva-Mohanlalganj road around 5am, an unknown vehicle rammed into an ambulance.
On information, superintendent of police (SP) Siddharth Shankar Meena, ASP Shashi Shekhar and CO Deepak Singh reached the spot and supervised the rescue work.
The SP said, “We have launched a search operation to locate the whereabouts of the ambulance driver, who has been missing since the accident occurred. In order to know more details pertaining to the accident, the ambulance driver’s interrogation is relevant.”
