Lucknow: A 30-year-old youth brutally hacked his father to death with an axe and set the body on fire before fleeing the scene in a village of Badagaon area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Police have engaged teams for his early arrest.
DCP Gomati zone Vikrant Veer said that after the incident came to light, Badagaon police reached the spot and recovered the partially burnt body of Ramji Saroj (50) in Gopalpur Tikarikala village. The body was sent for postmortem while two teams were engaged for early arrest of his son Rajkumar Saroj (30), he said.
Initial investigation of police revealed that Rajkumar’s father was pressurising him to migrate to some other city to earn livelihood as the family had very small land holding for farming. Due to the same and other monetary issues, Rajkumar used to have frequent quarrel with his father, said the police adding that it is suspected that he killed his father over the same dispute.
Earlier, sensation prevailed in Gopalpur Tokarikala village outskirts on Sunday early morning when villagers noticed fumes coming out of a room built in Ramji’s filed. On reaching there, the villagers noticed a charred body and raised an alarm. Hundreds of villagers gathered at the field and later alerted the police.
When the police reached the village and started investigating the matter it came to light that Rajkumar had a brawl with his father on Saturday night. After Ramji went to bed on Saturday, Rajkumar raided the place after midnight and attacked him with an axe killing him on the spot. Later, he took the body to the room in their field, where he set it on fire using wood and other articles. He fled the scene after executing the crime.
