Jharkhand: Kurmi Protest Prompts Cancellation of Nine Trains, Diversion of Eight

The Ranchi railway division of South Eastern Railways has taken precautionary measures in response to an indefinite rail blockade organized by Kurmi organizations. As a result, nine express trains have been canceled, and eight others have been diverted. This rail blockade is being conducted at nine railway stations across Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha by various Kurmi bodies. The protest aims to push for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for the Kurmi community and the inclusion of the Kurmali language in the eighth schedule of the Constitution.

To ensure safety and security, trains that were scheduled to depart from their respective stations on Tuesday and enter the Ranchi rail division the following day have either been canceled or diverted.
